Zelda Wii rumours arrive

Postby milky_joe » 14 Jun 2010, 12:20

I saw this earlier elsewhere, I'm not getting my hopes up but the suggestion of open world boss fights would be pretty awesome if it came about...

rumour is there is a zelda timeline, locked away somewhere. They do actually all loosely fit together if you believe in the multiple timeline theory (based on ocarina of time's going into the future creating another timeline)

Interesting - if you go to that site they now say they're 99.9% certain that the rumours are true.

Gametrailers did a pretty good approximation of the timeline, check it out. The idea is that after Ocarina it splits in two, one goes with adult link after he defeats ganon and one with young link before it all happens.

As for this news, sounds pretty cool. Maybe going a bit Monster Hunter Tri on us? The idea of the several hundred years before is cool if they realise it in the environment.

Good stuff.

There is no time-line - official Nintendo word.

As for this.. *shrugs* Only interested in a Zelda that doesn't follow the last brown outing.

Zelda doesn't need a timeline, it's not a linked story.
Each game may have the same character names, but they're not the same characters.
Miyamoto said this when the voice of Mario wanted to voice Link.
That's why Link will never have a voice, they'd have to get new voice actors every game.

agreed on the timeline bosker and nollog. nintendo do the same thing with link as they do with the mario games.

the story is retold through the ages.

embellishments are made and inaccuracies passed over.

sounds pretty much like a 'legend' to me.

ocarina IS the starting point of everything though,so this could be seen as a prequel,i guess.

Actually I haven't seen it myself but apprantly Anuoma in an interview before tp's release said there is a timeline, then he went over how oot has two endings, the sealing of Ganondorf in the future and the past, the future heading of into Wind Waker (and ph and st) and the past heading off into Majoras Mask and tp.

I don't believe in a "full" timeline myself but the majority of Zelda games after oot was released do seem to often have Links to it, especially the home console instalments.

heard time travel is back: quick guess. the master sword is the only thing that can stop ganondorf,he goes back and tries to stop it being forged...

(addition to avoid further confusion:the rest is fiction but i'd love to see a zelda that was as dark as this.)

...wipes zelda out in this time, kills all the sages and wrecks the temple of time.

this link fails, leading to the flooding of hyrule by the goddesses and forcing the king of red dragons to go in to exile and wait for the rebirth of the kids with the shards of the triforce in their hands.

then: wind waker 500 years later.

i'd like to see zelda finish on a dark note for once.

i know ocarina's end was bittersweet because in effect ocarina hadn't happened yet. the boy changed but the world was unaware but i mean a dark FFVII style, everyone dies, kind of ending.

i've even got a title for it- the legend of zelda: requiem.

it'll never happen though. bugger! :(
