2010 FIFA World Cup review - 9/10 in OPM

Postby sparkcow » 09 Apr 2010, 15:09

Played the demo of this on the 360 last night, and although it is limited to a 2 min each half match, I have to say it is very impressive, and better than Fifa 10 in virtually every way.
This is now a must have for me.

Going by the demo they've managed to create a good atmosphere, but it's still not worth the £40 asking price (£20-25). I love the post match ratings and the more colourful menus and I hope they add all of that to FIFA 2011.

Well i hope the crazy camera stuff is sorted, hated all the zooming in and out, felt lot further away then Fifa 10, got a bit better after a play with the camera settings though. Wasnt bad and I'm sure full game will be better as they always are compared to demos (for Fifa)

OPM would give Pit Fighter 9/10 if it had the f**king chance. Same with the official Xbox mag.

I'll wait till a decent review comes out, one thats not in love with their machine rather than the game

Burns, just DL the demo and give it a try there to form some kind of better opinion. =)

Like the others here, I played it last night and I really loved what they did with it, so far. I hope the rest of the game is handled proper cause the demo really kicked @$$. Shame it was only 2 min. time...but, a great time either way.

Good as the demo is, FIFA World Cup 2010 predictably was always going to look and feel like a £20/DLC game and I, for one, will not pay the RRP due to shelling out for FIFA 2010 not so long ago.

I just wish people would just not bother buying this and then EA would learn from the sales (or lack of). Unfortunately, a lot of people just like to bitch, moan and buy it anyway. There's a reason EA are putting it out with this price after all.

I am hoping the supermarkets have themselves another FIFA war on like last time and then, maybe, I might be interested.

I like FIFA 10 and if this is an improvement upon it then great! Like some others, I too am disinclined to pay 40 quid for the game. 15-20 quid is more like it, and if need be I'll wait until the price drops but I do plan on buying this game. FIFA 10 is enjoyable and all, but nothing in football brings me quite the same joy and excitement as watching my country's national football team take to the pitch. :D

Whilst i do agree with you i haven't played Fifa 10 since christmas and this game itself feels alot more improved than Fifa 10 was over Fifa 09. I'm more inclined to buy a Fifa World Cup game over Fifa 11 at full price especially once the World Cup fever hits.

Fifa 10 is great, but worse than 09. Hopefully a step in the right direction :)

Also, i should have that OPM mag now, guess my subscription needs renewing

I must echo what the minority have said. I would rather get this title for 40 quid than Fifa 10 of Fifa 11.
I got Fifa 10 on the cheap and although it felt good to begin with, I had more time swearing at my passes go astray than focusing on playing my own brand of entertaining football to beat my opponent. I have to agree, it's a step backward from Fifa 09.
From what I have played of the demo, the pace is better, your passes are not toooo realistic (come on guys, it's a video game, if you want to play the real thing, put down the pad, put on your shorts and jersey and get out in the sun).
With the world cup coming up, and having COUNTRIES to actually pick instead of these money-hungry clubs...I am more inclined to buy this than a Fifa 11.

Surely this should be DLC not another full retail game that is basically Fifa 10.
