Trouble in paradise... that's twice as nice

We look back at the first Just Cause in an only slightly sarcastic spirit of fondness. Riding the crest of the go-where-you-want, do-what-you-want wave, it presented players with an island of unparalleled beauty, its glittering seas stretching far to the horizon, its sun-kissed beaches giving gamers a very real glimpse of open-world gaming's promise. There was one snag though: for all its holiday snap looks, it didn't give players very much to do. Or rather it did, but none of it was that interesting - not after the first time, and certainly not after the hundredth.... read more

Gillri, you're missing out. Play Mercenaries 2 - fully destructible environment. Awesome.

I played the demo on pc and it really is stunning to look at. And the gun play with a mouse is far better than on a console. It's much more fun than the first one, which I did enjoy, but it wasn't great. I'm gonna get this on pay day I think.

What do you mean by proper games? This one has (I presume) a box, an instruction manual, and works on your choice of console/PC.

Also, what does 'meh' translate into? I only usually see it wrote by people who are unable to express their opinion towards a certain object like a retard. In fact it's usually just to justify their comment on an article.

lookin foward to this, its a nice smattering of open world crazyness that ive been itching for since gta san an. Gta4 is brilliant and all, but sometimes you just want to go mental and judging by this review and the demo thats excatly what you can do!
If its not worth doing, its not worth doing right!!

Eh newsinthefield Mercenaries 2 destructive system was patchy at best and no better than that from the first one, if you want a proper destructive engine the Red faction guerrilla is the way to go.

the demo was fun.......for about the 30 mins they gave you. It basically plays like a tarted up san andreas, but not as good. The grappel hook and chute are ace though!

what i can not understand is how developers can release their games like this.
i thought games were suppose to be fun?
well can some one tell me what part of traveling to a mission, starting it, finishing half of it, than dying and having to start all over again.
what part of that sounds like fun?
sounds infuriating to me!
no, in fact it is! that is the exact reason why i got fed up with far cry 2 and only finished like 2 missions than sold it.

thats one thing thats absolutely driving me fu**ing insane with GOW3.
im trying to finish it on chaos mode now, and im up to the hades boss battle and jesus f**king christ its hard!
how the f**k am i suppose to take off all his health 3 times in the time that i only have 1?
seriously it is so f**king annoying!
i get past the first 2 stages no problem with almost all my health left but in the last bit its so freaking hard because he either swings his blades where you cant attack him, or he summons the souls where you have to doge them and attack him at the same time.
its so freaking hard, and if you die start all over again.
as if its not hard enough as it is!
maybe ill ask the developers at the IGN GOW3 media night tomorrow.

i was really looking forward to just cause 2 since i absolutely love open world games, and well were not exactly drowning in them so i was really looking forward to getting this.
but since it has the same problems as GOW3 and far cry 2, im not buying it.
it drove me insane in those and i can only imagine what its going to do to me with this.

word to the wise developers if you want people to buy your games, make sure you have decent checkpoints.
dying and having to do a small portion again is bad enough, but having to re do the whole freaking mission?
i dont think so!

mercs 2 is an alright game. Not fantastic but more than likely worth the tenner you can more than likely pick it up for these days.
