UPDATED: PS3 Internal clock resolves internal dispute. Sony back online. Hysteria ends.

So... this is what it was like to be captaining a Battlestar on the day of the Fall; when the Cylon virus disabled our defences, leaving us to damn Gaius Baltar's betrayal and... er, not really, but if you read the internet today, you'd be under the impression that EVERY PS3 IN THE WORLD is under the control of a mystery virus that will eat your files, delete your Trophies or make your games stop working online, and off.... read more

PS3's 8001050F error - read Sony's official advice now

Postby DG2010 » 01 Mar 2010, 14:46

This is not good, it's been nearly 14 hours now since my PS3 was working...........since midnight which makes me think it's some bug linked to the 'fat' PS3's calendar!
I've got 66 stars on spec ops but since my PSN went down, my MW2 trophies have just disappeared!
Sony's rep is falling by every passing hour this problem continues, and all they've said is that they've narrowed it down!
So, does that mean they still dont know the problem? :x

over on cvg they reckon that slims aren't affected. I knew there was a reason to spend that £300 to get the slim and games
... some say they were shot down by a RPG, well, that's what happens when you fly through the desert tripped up on acid

Ha, yes. LOL. I'm dipping between PES and FIFA this year. Both good for different reasons. We play a lot of lunchtime FIFA, and I needed to brush up on my advanced trick skills.

Update! As for PS3's INVERSE BATTLESTAR GALACTICA disaster (where newer models are safe, but older ones get cooked), Sony claim to have a fix by tomorrow.

Sony: PSN fix by morning http://bit.ly/cIP069

Oh, and I promise to stop name dropping BSG soon, since it's 'a bit 2006', as one of our Xbox colleagues informed me - while asserting it was all downhill from the season 2 finale. Which is A LIE, since even though S03/04 aren't as high paced/tense/tight, the beauty of watching a complete box set, is that the bitter taste of a weaker episode can be instantly washed away with a fresh 'un.

Next month: Why you should watch a new crime show set in Baltimore whose name eludes me.

Yeah but Dan, that whole 'fix by morning' post was written 12:53am this morning, it's now just gone 2:30pm and I'm still playing on my 360 because my PS3 still wont work.

Oh and I never found BSG that entertaining anyway

Please fix it soon Sony, I miss Nathan Drake!

alright you fine fellow's at psm3
cannot wait for the next podcast as this must surely be the number one topic, and the fact you cant play the games offline ( which is the worst thing about this problem )
on another note what do you guy think of fistplay? seem kind of ok but apart from the download sections, its just an psn version of your free disc !! which is still brilliant (apart from side B, pleace do something better with it it not 2006)
now if i can just get all the million fat PS3 user to start singing in unison "always look on the bright side of life" it might MIGHT just fix the 8001050F bug

My PS3 is the older type (I bought mine release day) and having just checked it the date and time were screwed up and I couldn't log onto the PSN.

However

All of my trophies and save data was in place and when I manually set the clock there was no ill effects. Naturally I cannot log into the PSN but as nothing significant was lost or damaged I don't mind.

As I own a 360 as well I think I'm capable of saying that anyone bashing the PS3 needs to get rid of their emo fringe grow up and p!ss off.

All system's have something wrong with them sometimes and as this is the first major (ish) problem I've had with my PS3 all the emo xbox fanboys don't really have a leg to stand on considering all the problems that have happened with the Xbox.

coughcough......RED RING OF DEATH......coughcough

Then again personally speaking I've never had a problem with my xbox either so perhaps people aren't just looking after their machines properly.
If people are talking behind your back it's only because they cant talk to your face. PS3, Xbox360 Elite and Wii Owner so the lame ass "Fanboy" BS wont work on me. Do not bother!
