Pfff yankee football...

But before i get flamed, on a serious note, what exactly does Super Bowl mean? Should be the name of a Bowling tournament surely. And why the Numerics to keep count?

I'm guessing that 'bowl' is a word for stadium, so college footall has different 'bowl' games or playoff games named: orange bowl, rose bowl, etc. and professional football has the Super Bowl.

and the Roman numerals are keeping count of the # of Super Bowls, so this one is # 40.

It is actually because of the College important games, it started with the Rose Bowl because of the stadiums name being, surprisingly, the Rose Bowl. So then Super Bowl was a natural progression for the bigger tournament.
