Had a quick look mate. Processor in the Samsung looks the best, but the Lenovo has a bigger HDD. Spec wise there's not a massive difference between them. I don't know anyone who's had a Lenovo, but they're supposed to be dent build quality. I know people and people at work who have had Samsungs and have never heard complaints personally about them. Asus are supposed to be very good build quality (not that there's one here!).

The processors are all the same builds I think, so doubt you'll see more difference in power consumption, but may be wrong!

If you're going with PC World, don't forget you can order online and pick up in store for the online price, plus Quidco tracks for store pick ups too! Other than that, have a nose around HUKD for £400 laptops and see what comes up!

Cheers, Ric. Just a few questions...

Is that dent or decent regarding Lenovo? I took it as bad at first but then it could be a typo after reading it again.

The only thing about the Samsung is it has 2gb less ram and no optical drive. The drive isn't a deal breaker but I'd have to fork out 20 quid on an external drive. But when I think of Samsung I think of Apple build quality (same parts so people keep saying!) so that has to be worth something.

Appreciate you looking, I'll keep my eyes peeled on HUKD for a couple of weeks.

Sorry mate! That's 'decent'!

The Samsung is 6GB too, its the HP thats 4GB. I didn't notice the lack of drive, thats a consideration too. Although I rarely miss it on my netbook, although I do have my desktop for all that stuff to get around it.

You do see i5 laptops for around £400. You might want to consider if you want Windows 8, although you don't see many W7 ones about now! I've got it and the lack of start button doesn't seem too much of a hassle once you get used to it, just use the windows button on the keyboard!

Personally I wouldn't be getting a Windows 8 machine but I just don't like the OS at all. Windows 7 is the perfect version of Windows for me.

Also I'm certain you can find better deals than that. I got my missus a Asus Laptop with same specs for slightly less and that was before Christmas.

If you want a normal start button, just download software called Stardock, its brilliant. Gives you the start button from windows 7 with the search bar, in fact you can actually do a lot more. And personally, i love Windows 8

Heres a link, its $4.99 a little over 3 quid :)
