Layoffs at Activision affect around 30 staff

And as activision moves onto next gen those happy go lucky mod makers treyach get the boot as they cant code a next gen engine :D, what is left of infinity ward will be next year (after the last gen cod for this year is finished) as the real engine gurus left ages ago to form respawn.

Looks like cod is finished as a franchise for a while come next year.

I agree. If anything they should be expanding but I guess as long as there will be a huge crowd that buys their recycled games, then they won't have any real incentives to go beyond their comfort zone of releasing same crap every year.

Wow 30 people, less than 2% of the employee population!!!!!! Shareholders get your money out, the franchise is clearly dead in the water.

Some people really do read what they want to read into things, find a major company that isn't looking at it's costs and trimming the fat and I'll show you a business that has the blinkers on

Hopefully they will sack the person who's idea it was to put the Hunter Killer Drone and Swarm in BLOPS 2 and the guy who codes the connections for online MP on PS3!

Agreed.

30 people across a company the size of Activision is a pretty small amount, I've worked for companies with a couple of hundred people and they have payed off 30 and no one batted an eye.

This is actually symptomatic of our times. This company, Activision, is profitable but choses to lay off workers.
I really hate activision and they keep giving me more reasons to hate them.

To be fair we don't know why those people were payed off they might have been terrible at their jobs, or just didn't bring anything to the company. Being in profit isn't a reason to keep people in a job if they aren't any good at it or they aren't needed.
