Headline should read,
MICROSOFT EXCLUDE 70% OF THE WORLDS POPULATION FROM PLAYING XBOX GAMES!!!

This will never happen.

Hmm, smells like bullshit to me.

Well I actually agree with the always online part, Microsoft would have the figures to see how many of its users are actually connected up constantly.

The part I have difficulty with is the blocking of second hands games. Games need a code to be activated. We have this now? Do Microsoft really care that much that they would dictate to it's third party publisher it intends to kill of a section of the market it has only recently found a way to claw back money from?

Well I wasn't going to bother with any of the next gen consoles, and if this is true I think it reinforces my decision.

Never understood the obsession with online activation and DRM jiggery pokery.....prob means EVERY game, no matter what genre, will have some form of shoe horned MP in it.

Edge sources: Next-gen Xbox games 'will require online conne

Postby Shadmeister » 06 Feb 2013, 13:09

Hi,

Will the online connection be required at all times to play - or just to register the game as yours, and hence you can play when the broadband is not working ?

Is the account required for XBOX Live a gold account for which you have to pay for ?. So not only do you have to pay for the game and cannot resell, but you also need to pay a subscription to use the game too ?.

Is the console backwards compatible and if so, will second hand XBOX 360 games also be required to be new (is this an issue ?)

If this console has less performance than Sony, and Sony's online experience is free - is Microsofts strategy correct ?

If a game has bugs - i assume you will need to return and cannot resell - so will Micorsoft be applying quality control to games ?

Regards,

Shadmeister.

I'll wait until I have all the facts. If it's going down the PC route though it has to start pricing more like Steam. £50 games you can't sell are not worth it, I wouldn't buy them. £30 and I'm interested.

Lets see all the facts and what Sony are doing.
