Superbowl

Postby spaceman_DOUG » 04 Feb 2013, 03:07

Anybody watch handegg, or other American sports? I didn't plan on watching, but since it's on and I'm up I thought I'd give the Superbowl a go.

Sure they're padded up beyond belief, and it doesn't look like the 49ers are coming back from being 22 down, and they had an unsportsmanlike brawl in the first half, and now they've got a power outage so have had to stop, but it's not that bad!
Rules aren't too complex, and it's a little exiting when there's a good play, and seeing Jacoby Jones run a 109 yard touchdown then do a little dance was pretty nice. Half time show wasn't bad either, although I'm not really a Beyonce fan.

Two hours of highlights are on this afternoon from 19:00, then repeated right after at 21:00

If this goes better in Sports or TV feel free to move it, but it looks like a third sport, a third TV and a third drama at the moment. :P

EDIT: Two touchdown in two minutes for the 49ers, goddamn, that's pretty awesome.

Watched it at a friend's house. I stayed because there were 10 minutes left. Except ten minutes is really over half an hour.

I really thought San Francisco they were going to pull it back

               Q1   Q2   Q3   Q4   Total
Ravens      7    14    7     6      34
49ers        3      3    17    8     31

If they hadn't messed up as much in the first half they would have, I wonder how much that power cut affected them, that a big change from the second to third quarter.

Well if you take out all the breaks it probably ends up being only two hours anyway, and it's shown on red button which I forgot to mention.

I thought the superbowl was baseball...oh well, american sports are crap anyways.
Some say he's half man, half fish. Others say its more of a 70/30 split. Whatever the percentage, he's one fishy bastard.

I used to like watching it in my younger days, probably just was an excuse to stay up late so I didn't have to go to school, but every time I try to watch now it bores me shitless with the stop start nature of it. I'd rather play the Madden games really.

I did watch the world cup of darts last night though, so I can't judge anybody for watching 14 hours of adverts with an hour of padded up blokes running inbetween can I.
Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to stay on my toes.

Nice thing about watching it through the BBC was the lack of adverts, although the stop star nature was a bit testing. I have to admit I quite like watching the darts, and the snooker, and even the golf weirdly enough.

It's completely daft. Why do they need to have a 10 minute break after every score and a 2 minute break after seemingly every other play?! And don't get me started on the half time show. It's a game of football, not a damn concert!

Gotta question: now that the Superbowl is over, does that mean that all American football has finished until the next season? (I know f all about the sport).
