Red Dwarf Season X

Postby flash501 » 26 Sep 2012, 21:34

Anyone looking forward to it? I love the old series' but if this is anything like the abortion that was the "Back to Earth" special from a few years back then I'll be seriously p**sed off! Christ, that was shite!

Cat looked depressingly old in that. He went from cool suave mofo to old creepy bastard.
Here's a lockpick, now jog on.

I saw the trailer for it and it looked pretty good. Still not keen on bringing back these old shows though.

s**t, Back to Earth was three years ago now, doesn't time fly.

I quite enjoyed it actually, not as good as the (good) originals, but I got a kick out of the Blade Runner references.

The Coronation Street parts were shocking though.

s**t, how did I miss this thread? I'm a mahoosive Red Dwarf fan! From the trailers I've seen of series X, things look to be back to form. Yes, they all look older, but I can deal with that as long as the writing is good. Back to Earth was okay when watched as one long episode, but not when broken up into 3 parts.

IMO, series 4-6 were the best. Series 1-2 are classics. Series 3 was okay, but Robert Llewellyn was obviously still getting his character down as it went on. Series 7 gets much unwarranted stick, but I loved it and the interaction between Kryten and Kochanski. Series 8 was the weakest, but enjoyable enough. I hope X is well received so they make another series. I'll no doubt buy the Blu-ray when it's released.

Yeah, I've been watching series 1 on Dave meself. It is great, the Kat is annoyingly 1 dimensional in it though, imo.

There's something very raw about it that's appealing that the later ones don't have I think, but then it doesn't have Kryton and they don't seem to have worked out what to do with Kat yet. Very difficult to chose a favourite series.

Series 6 is my personal favourite. Series 5 is right up there too.

I hope series 10 will be good, Rimmer looks about 104 years old though.

I need to watch them all again, the box sets should be mere pennies by now.

5 was my fav. I even have a Mr Flibble hand puppet, but they were all enjoyable to a degree even if they did go downhill quite quickly after 6.
Some say he's half man, half fish. Others say its more of a 70/30 split. Whatever the percentage, he's one fishy bastard.

Looking forward to the new series tonight but hope it's not a washout like the recent ones.
A return to early form would be welcomed.

I was hoping for the indling song

Our love I tried to kindle
Like firelight it dwindles
Now I wonder when this wind'll
Ever stop.

Sadly I'll be dead so can't verify if it will be sung.
