Sports Personality of the Year?

Postby StonecoldMC » 11 Sep 2012, 12:05

Following on from my Andy Murray thread (again, well in Andy)

It got a few of us in the office thinking about who would win this years BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2012?

What a f**king year we've had, we've been spoiled . . . .

This is who I am thinking of, any others?

And options for Another, if you list a different one from those listed ill collate the entries. If anyone actually gives a f**k  .

As its so hard to pick one, ive went with 3 and we can see who gathers the most votes . . . .

Harry Redknapp.

But on the off chance he hasn't bunged them then I'll settle for Mo.

Barton is clearly a bit of an idiot but when you read or hear about the stuff he comes out with on twitter, unintentional or not, he often makes me laugh.

Very few of those in that list have personalities, especially Andy Murray, Andy Murray and personality? Have they achieved great things in their respective sports? Absolutely and well done to them but put them on a microphone, twitter, interview and I lose interest.

But I always have this problem with this award.

Sarah Storey should be on the list.

My thoughts...

Ennis. Simply a no. She won a gold medal, albeit in a multi discipline event, but one gold. Doesn't cut the mustard this year when you look at what others have done.

Farrah. Maybe, plus he's awesome. Although lose most points for being an Arsenal fan.

Murray - Gold and the US Open... again, any other year...

Can't see the paralympic athletes getting it - as amazing as their achievments were, I don't it's quite up there with the Olympics as a sporting achievement, due to the sheer level of professionalism and competition at the Olympics.

Rory McIlroy would be in with a great shout any other year too.

But it's gotta be Wiggins. TDF. Gold medal and he doesn't go in for all the b*****ks. Top stuff.
Future Plc, you bloody idiots.

Ennis' effort though, it's a heptathlon so it's the ultimate speed and power. Surely that's much better than 3 golds all in swimming or golds in 100m and 100m relay as it's the same thing twice.

Farah as he's an arsenal supporter and he can run a long way and wiggins are the others for me, defeating people without really seeming as if he bothered trying.

And yes, joey barton is funny simply because he's a complete c**t but doesn't seem to realise that he is. Should be banned from professional football and given his own tv show in a jeremy kyle format. "Tw@tted with Joseph Barton"
Some say he's half man, half fish. Others say its more of a 70/30 split. Whatever the percentage, he's one fishy bastard.

He is a c**t, it's undeniable, but he's a c**t with a personality. I'm not saying I'd like to have a drink with him but the man is an entertainer, albeit an oblivious one.

If the award was called Sports Achievement of the Year then Barton would be nowhere near that list.

As I said above, the guy entertains me with his twitter posts, far more than watching an interview with Andy Murray.

Still if Barton is too controversial then I'll pick Kenny Dalglish, I've lost count of how many times I laughed at him last season with his post match interview hissy fits .

Well if it its just down to personality then it would need to be Holloway or someone like that.

Think of it as a Sports Achievement Award.

NOT WHO MAKES YOU LAUGH  .

Why is Jessica Ennis on it twice?

Probably Wiggins I reckon.
Genius behind Niptendo (TM pending)

I distrust patriotism; the reasonable man can find little in these days that is worth dying for. But dying against - there's enough iniquity in Europe to carry the most urbane or decadent into battle.
