Don't forget, we actually have a decent flash player now, screen grabbing aswell, once the developers sort the updates out

There's a new 1 today, not sure what it's done though.

F.A.

* Improves the playback quality of some PS3 format software.
* Trophies don't need their game reopened to display after a hard drive upgrade or backup restore.

I think it's fixed a problem I had with my PS3 Internet Browser crashing. Also, people's trophy information loads up much quicker.

As with sonar, the big problem with detection is interpreting the returning signals.

It's the little things that make a difference.

Found out today it doesn't fix the problem. Although I've got a suspision it is the CVG website, as it crashed my brother's PS3 too.

Sony should really be working on a update to make Killzones servers run smoothly..I mean come on...every time i see that LOST CONNECTION: UNRECOVVERABLE ERROR and that load of BS. Really, fix the servers now...and do some proper updates.

Firmware 3.0 has started to grow on me, in that some things that might have annoyed at the beginning don't annoy me now. I think it was mostly a matter of getting used to the unexpected changes than anything else. Those grey boxes around the friends list seem to merely be a filler for something else, apparently - otherwise why would they have made them so bloody long? I guess they're probably to show trophies next to your name or something. But, why oh why, they couldn't have just developed the "something else" quicker and actually in time for the update is beyond me but, what the hey.

Personally, I suspect the grey boxes are there at the moment only to make the text of the friends list stand out against the upcoming dynamic themes. The additional What's New icon helps me have an overall sense of my consoles offerings and acts like a summary of what I should do or what I have done which I like. It's one small common space for everything to make the experience more unified whereas having all those icons separately on different sections breaks the various different experiences and reduces my chances of checking other things that otherwise wouldn't have, or would have checked out less - in general I'm satisfied.

I just noticed, but I have voice chat on my taiwan account. I can chat with up to 8 people. Without Eyetoy or just a mic.

There's a preview of Firmware 3.10 on the PlayStation Blog, although you'll have to scroll down a little to find it though! It's essentially showing the Facebook integration features; which are currently limited to automatically posting events like trophies, purchases on the store etc. Finally games that support it can also post about specific events.

All 3 options can be individually turned on/off, and if you select the purchase update option, each time you download/purchase something you'll be asked if you want to post information on this purchase on Facebook. It seems to work pretty well, though of course the functionality is still limited - especially, when compared to the 360 version.

They're saying this is just the start though, so we can probably expect more features in the future. They also revamped the picture browsing to make more efficient use of the screen space. I don't think it looks great to be honest, but in terms of usability I think it's an improvement.

I'm guessing this is done in preparation for Facebook integration for pictures as well. Finally you can customise the background colour for your PSN name in the friends list, and this is then used on your friend's friends lists as well, leaving the much complained about grey only for those who are offline.

Looks quite neat, any idea when it's coming?

[Edit] Today (18th) apparently...
