Is this a very big deal? I mean, will it ruin PS3?

It could. There are consequences too:

1. Alienate people that might have bought one.

2. Ruin our trophies. If I lose my WaW Platinum, I'm gunna fly to the States and punch Jack Tretton in the face.

3. Break our PS3s completely.

4. Ruin PlayStation, and Sony's reputation.

5. Lose our DLC/PSN buys.

6. Corrupt game data.

This isn't good for Sony, not at all.

Certainly is a big deal when you cannot play games when you bought the machine for that very purpose, this is quite frankly THE worst moment of the PS3 so far, I am absolutely disgusted that such a bug could happen and... oh wait... I have a slim. But my point still stands!

You bitch Crimsy! This is horrible. I'll give them a few days, maybe weeks, but if my DLC goes I will seriously consider getting an Xbox!

If not more so. I agree entirely.

Ah shut up everyone, it's essentially a computer, it goes wrong from time to time, then they fix it. You'd be an idiot to assume something like this would never go wrong, I'm sure it's in the contract you automatically agree to when you buy it to "not get too upset when it inevitably goes wrong".

As with sonar, the big problem with detection is interpreting the returning signals.

But Xbox and PS3 are more than computers, they're M&S computers.

I don't like Xbox, but I had to include it for the joke.

Doug, we could lose all purchases from the PS store. Will you be shutting up after losing over 100 euro in DLC? Then all your trophies and game saves? I hope you're right, and this all blows over. I really do...

Bah, no we wont, just let Sony work things out, and don't go on your PS3 for the time being, you'll be fine.

...I hope I'm not quoted on this if the s**t does get real.

I have a Region 3 Taiwanese 40GB white PS3.

Yeah, surely Sony have that sort of data backed up, so you should be ok?

If there is no long term effects, then frankly guys, you're being bloody pathetic. It hasn't even been a day! Go do something meaningful with your lives! Enjoy yourselves! Seriously, unless it continues for more than a week, there shouldn't really be any major complaints, it's not even like the console just launched.
