FFXI Beta - Silver or Gold? (sorry)

Postby AlisunX » 08 Feb 2006, 00:01

Sorry I know there are already several threads about this game but I just want the answer to the following question:

Will the beta version work if you only have Silver Live membership, or do you need Gold? I've heard conflicting info regarding this so could someone please clarify.

Thanks.

According to the UK oxm site you need xbox live gold to play, but according to IGN and Game|Life you don't. I'd place my bet on not having to have Gold, since they're separate online services which have nothing to do with each other. The best thing to do really is to try it, since all you need is to get the magazine and sign up with no long-term commitments.
Make it idiot proof and they'll make a better idiot.

You do need Gold, it says so in big letters on the box that the magazine comes in.

I already mentioned that the OXM said you need Gold, but why would the others lie? OXM certainly has reason to. Won't know 'til you try Alisun.

I take it you missed the part about 'conflicting information'?

Don't know what you mean. I'm just answering your question and clearing up any confusion caused by your conflicting reports.
:?:

As I said, in the magazine that the Beta disc came with, it clearly stated an Xbox Live Gold membership would be required. If thats not the case then ask Squenix :D

OXM get everything wrong so I wouldn't trust them, why dont you just try setting it up? Can't hurt... well worth it too, great game IMO. (this from someone who hated all the past FF games).

To be fair I did quite enjoy it while I played it, I just have no idea why, I decided to knock it on the head as I was unlikly to devote the time to it to make it worth paying for when the beta runs out.
