The original Xbox dropped quite quick due to poor sales, I can't see the 360 dropping till the end of the year at least.

I've suggested before that the first price drop will probably coincide with the PS3's launch, and if not it may be Christmas time.

I read that somewhere too, I think. Given that the PS3 is probably going to be more expensive than 360 at launch anyway, I can't see M$ dropping the price tag before Christmas.

Well not while the machine in such high demand still. I can see this machine being a constant seller for the next year. MS aren't going to loose revenue on it by reducing the price for it while the demand is there.

Well that's also very true considering the amount of kit you get. It will make the bundle deals when sales peter out a bit interesting.

£280 is nothing (£210 if you are a tight wad) compared to the £1000 plus people were paying for a 360 on ebay at launch.
If you have a PC I deffinately recommend linking them, Its great to browse your PC media files from your living room, hook your 360 to your stereo too, and youve got an instant juke box. never get off your ass again to change a CD

Microsoft actually make a substantial loss on each Xbox 360 sold.

Don't expect a price drop for at least six months - like others have previously mentioned, £279.99 is not a great deal compared to the hardware you receive. Purchased mine on Saturday and I'm more than happy with it :D.

a 360 price drop will most likely happen when PS3 & Revolution go on sale, until then there is not much need for MS to drop the price & besides I think that considering what you get with the machine & how powerfull it is 280.00 is a fair price, I can remember paying much more than that in the past for other consoles

Well I've not been around here in quite some time (usually a post a year )

Recently started university studying so not had much time to pursue internet activitys - however I just purchased an Xbox so I thought I'd come along and check out what peoples views where!

It's good to see so many oldies still hanging around the forums, always nice to see nicknames you recognise 8)

Renegade I'm afraid I no longer have any GBA at all  you may have to cut your losses

Oh and if you fancy some friendly banter you can find me on quakenet in #trickery along with Aceman.
