Ridge Racer 6 online

Postby Majin Chris » 22 Jan 2006, 11:44

Well yesturday i got a copy of Ridge Racer 6 and everything was going great till i took it online.

Now in all my time playing Xbox Live i have never seen a game run so crap online. The game runs at half the speed it's supposed too and is barely playable.

Anyone else having these problems with this game ?

That's just SEGA's poor net code. A classic example of another racing game that was half decent offline and crap online would be SEGA GT. Hell, even OUTRUN would run poorly with more than 4 players.

SEGA just don't know how to do net code.

Haven't taken mine online yet but you're right on the Sega thing, they said they didn't want to do VF5 online as the timing with VF can't afford to be off in the slightest. They don't have the ablility to pull that off so it's probably best they don't bother.

I'll probably finish RR6 and p/ex it for something else in March seeing as it'll be a busy month.

I thought EA published this and Namco developed it...

EA aren't exactly masters of Live play, and Namco have barely dabbled there if at all, so it's not suprising whoever was involved in the netcode.

 Yep, posted without thinking this morning, but as you say, Namco have never really done any sort of net code, and EA's net code is just plain pants.

Burnout 3 was good when it was working properly. The amount of people that had problems getting into games on that one was quite high. Burnout Revenge, hmmmm, prefered Burnout 3 online to Revenge. There was usually a bit of lag on Revenge which didn't happen on Burnout 3.

But overall, EA net code is very unstable compared to M$'s own.

With Burnout 3 the problem was that only 50hz players could connect to 50hz players and 60hz players to 60hz players.

Ok i tried changing from 50hz to 60hz and it's still running at like 15FPS.

I find this really weird as i have had no problems with any other 360 game till this problem. I hope to God this does not happen to DOA4......

===UPDATE===

Just found this on the Xbox.com forums and hopefully this should work.

You must stop any sharing between your Xbox and PC. So, on your Xbox:

1) Go to the system blade
2) Choose computers
3) Choose the highlighted option (Windows-based PC or Windows Media Center)
4) Disconnect the connection.

Your online races should now be good!

So if you say stream your music from your PC it fecks up RR6 on live? So you can't listen to your own soundtracks that way on live. Sound s**t to me.
