Winter olympics

Postby JedHawk » 10 Feb 2006, 01:17

Winter Olympics is:

The time when we all get behing scottish people who shout "HURREEEEEE" on the curling ice lane.
Where we enjoy watching skiiers crash through the safety netting.
How we can laugh at ice dancers as their skirts flip up during a triple salko.
A two days spent under a nice blanket as the cross country skiiers make their way through their arduous terrain.

So, I predict 2 gold medals for UK, 2 silver and 7 bronze. I really do look forwrad to this time.

Gee, you must be in the minority, reading in the Mail today that the Italians are not.

May watch the ice dancers though... um.. for their sporting prowess that is

Well, this is a controversial thread then.
At least it's better than rugby(union or league), cricket and/or tiddlywinks.

personally, I've been watching a lot of the Olympics.

The downhill and super G are cool

although I don't watch much hockey, the hockey has been good

I also like the long jump or whatever that jumping event is

speed skating is pretty good

I think skull would be fun to do

I also enjoy women's figure skating

It's a fun event to watch, and with global warming, there might not be many more to come, so I'm watching while I can

The slalom events have been really intense!
I love watching curling, hehe, I always think it amazing that some people are "better" than others. But there's pure strategy involved really.

Finally, I love watching ice dancing.

One of the things I enjoy about winter olympics, has to be the elegance, but a close second comes falls (non injurous ones).
Reminds me of something a friend said to a friend watching F1, since he didn't appreciate it: "Are you waiting for them to crash?"

The ski jumping isn't bad (would be better if Eddie the Eagle was still 'competing').

I actually surprised myself and watched the whole of the Great Britain vs Finland curling semi-final and we sadly lost on the last stone. Ony bronze medal at the most now.
