General Sport

Postby flash501 » 15 May 2011, 19:54

Thought we might as well have a general thread for all the sports that don't have their own thread. So anything except football and my deserted F1 thread, basically.

I'm watching the Tennis now and it looks like Djokivic is going to do Rafa yet again. This will be 39 games (over 6 months) unbeaten if he wins today. Incredible!

General Sport aye? I remember Colonel Sport, I didn't realise he got promoted.

I distrust patriotism; the reasonable man can find little in these days that is worth dying for. But dying against - there's enough iniquity in Europe to carry the most urbane or decadent into battle.

Anyone interested in le mans 24? Is it possible to watch it live for free or stream it?

Yep, I'll be watching Le Mans. Eurosport usually broadcast most, if not all of the race. After that, I haven't a clue where else you can watch it tbh.

I think it's about time the Tigers won that again. I bloody knew we'd lose to you in the semi. We owe you one. We'll have to be content with winning the premiership play-off again. :)

On the Le Mans front I met Allan McNish at an Audi event last year (launch of r8 Spyder) where he was talking about the R8/R10/R12 cars they used. Brilliant racer and a genuinely pleasant man to chat with. My money is on Audi to win again as Peugeot didn't have the reliability last time out if i remember right.
Loving LCFC's surge to the top.

The semi? I think you mean the quarter final. :P

As for Le Mans, am I right in saying Audi have a relatively new car for this years race? They mightn't be as reliable as in previous years if that's the case. My money's on Peugeot.

oops, my error yes. that doesn't stop the fact we owe you one. We always seem destined to play you, can't you obligingly go out in group stages for a change? take munster with you as well.

I think Audi have the R18 TDI. Those Audi diesel engines are pretty bullet-proof but you never know. They have a couple of the older le mans vehicles at the west london audi showroom just next to the M4 as you head east in to london. worth checking out, and the pikes peak audi and some really old ones as well.

Just out of intrest, anyone watching the NBA Finals?
For anyone who isn't, Basketball is possibly one of the most entertaining sports to watch in my opinion, even though it doesn't get much coverage over here.

I was a fan back when it was on Channel 4, but i don't get to see it now which is a shame.

I think it was on Channel 5 for a few years late on at night not too long ago too and I used to watch that.

Anyway, Voodoo172? You've got competition around these parts my friend! We already have a Voodoo341.

I used to watch it quite a lot years ago too. It always used to amuse me that it was mostly played by these huge 7 ft muscle bound black guys who could probably knock you over just by breathing heavily on you yet, any actual contact in the game and it's a foul. What's all that bulking up for?
