Agreed, considering they initial word was that AC4 would be on hold until 2014, there will be little to any improvements in this. I just couldnt get into AC3, so I will most likely skip this as its just going to be something like the 'Brotherhood' of the Assassins Creed 3 story...

Cant they just take a break for a few years, let the series stagnate naturally and then come back fresh, rather then flooding gamers with game after game with little change.
I mean, on the consoles alone weve had 5 games already, and 4 of those have been release back-to-back, year after year, and because of that, we havent seen the game evolve that much, just steps rather then a leap like we had from AC1 to AC2

Aw, look at the adorable 4 in the game's title. It's almost as though they want to make me think that this isn't just another annual "expansion pack". I wonder if this trick would have worked if they had called Revelations, Assassin's Creed IV: Revelations instead.

Until Ubisoft announces an AC game set during the Mayan/Epytian heyday with flashbacks to the First Civilization, you can count me out because fool me once (AC:Revelations) shame on you, fool me twice (ACIII) shame on me.

PS3 had the 60 minute 'Benedict Arnold story' exclusive content for AC3, so its no suprise really. That and they sold around 12 million copies, the majority of which were on playstation.
I'm all for exclusive games and don't mind exclusive content, aslong as its not 'timed' which is what I find to be petty, especially if you pay for it. Money could be better spent elsewhere.

I'll wait and see what it comes out like. No point bitching NOW about the whole annualisation by the way. If that was a problem to you, you should've taken a stand back at 3 or even Brotherhood. To my mind, they're just making their own series boring and kind of flooding the little niche it filled, but that's just me. I thought AC2, while not perfect at all, was one of the best games and standout moments of this gen. After that it went downhill to my mind. Fast.

I'd like them to make the important character assassinations a bit more varied. Give different ways like a sneaky poisoning, use the environment to make it look like an accident or dress up and lure them to a silent kill. Basically something a bit like the old Hitman games.

Because for a game about assassins the actual assassinations have become a lot more clumsy and repetitive.
Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have to stay on my toes.

Too right. It seems each new game has moved away from that and concentrated on bolting more things on that go against it. Most of the kills in 3 ended up being out in crowds and bumbling around after somebody.
Here's a lockpick, now jog on.

I wonder if a 'jumping the shark' mission will be included?

I'm loving the location choices, however, it would have been better if they made the lead character as someone from the Caribbean if you get me..

You're assuming that the same development team who worked on AC3 are the ones working on this, and that they started work after completing the previous game.

For all we know, however, Ubisoft could be using a similar model to the one Activision are using for Call of Duty, i.e. two different teams are working on different games in the franchise simultaneously. Ubisoft Montreal are a pretty huge developer, after all - they just finished Far Cry 3, and as well as AC4 they're working on Watchdogs and a new Rainbow 6 game. Of course, they've now got the staff who formerly worked at THQ Montreal to help them out, too.

(If I'm right, it could mean Ubisoft also recently began work on Assassins Creed 5...)

I have never really liked the AC games as was not keen on any of the era's the games were set in.

However, this one has definately got my attention as it is based on a caribbean island and has pirates (Monkey Island anyone???)

Will definately be picking this up.

Who on earth has been developing this? Is it the team behind Revelations?

If 3 had received more glowing reviews as opposed to merely decent reviews, I wonder if they would have gone down the 3: Brotherhood, Revelations etc route.

I hope that's not the case, otherwise they're rushing out a new game in six months. They've whored this series to hell and back. I meant to pick up Revelations cheap, and was going to get AC3 on the Wii U at some point, but it's really not anywhere near the top of my list!
Future Plc, you bloody idiots.

Idiot. They worked on this the same way they worked on AC3. AC3 started after AC2, AC4 has been worked upon ever since brotherhood by a seperate team. =_= Just...iddiiioooot...
