Palestine statehood

Postby Samildanach » 30 Nov 2012, 02:47

So the UN General Assembly has overwhelmingly voted in favour of recognising Palestine as a state. About time too. Maybe Israel will now feel some pressure and cease their encroachment of Palestinian lands with their settlements. Though I did read the usual bully boy tactics of America with some talk of sanctions on countries who voted in favour.

About frigging time. A right wing, military based nation seeking 'liebenstram', where did Israel find inspiration for that idea?

I find it hard to talk about Palestine, Israel, Zionism and real estate in the middle east, it's just so f**king dreadful, so I'll just let Sayle and Hitchens say it instead.

I hope there is peace there one day, but as long as the Israeli government believe they are killing and maiming and oppressing in the name of god I don't know if I'll ever see it in my lifetime.

Just read on the BBC app that Israel has sped up settlement building and is going to fast track another 1,000 plans in the West Bank. What a complete shower of wankers!! All the stuff coming out of their ministers mouths is bullshit too. Saying that the UN don't have the authority to make Palestine a state(eh, didn't the UN gift them Israel 65 years ago?!) and that they can't deny them 4,000 years of history or some such bollox.

Simple. The more antagonistic Israel get, the more America supports them, the more America supports them the more riled up arab terrorists get which leads America becoming more paranoid about an attack and so bring in more rules and regulations regarding air travel security. And working in airport security, it makes my job that bit harder. Kind of like a domino effect.

Also the inequalities of a state formed from guilt playing the guilty martyr when it sustains its position by ignoring international condemnation by hiding behind behind the USA. Or the fact that my jewish faith said the second state of Israel would be created by God not man.
