Pet Peeves

Postby flash501 » 03 Apr 2011, 23:06

We all have them. Mine include those effing Nintendo and We Buy Any Car.Com adds, I don't think I need say any more there! Watching a football game when Ashley Cole is playing, I absolutely can't stand the bastard, I wish he was dead! Young people who say "back in the day", you're only in your twenties ffs, back in the day for you is no different to now! And people who put the chalk face down on the table when playing Snooker, WHY????, Seriously, why would anyone do that? There's 6 bloody faces on the chalk, why would anyone put the only face that leaves a mark face down on the table??? Drives me bloody mental!

That's a few of mine, so, what's yours?

Sorry, misread the title and thought it was about cats watching you in the shower...
Genius behind Niptendo (TM pending)

I distrust patriotism; the reasonable man can find little in these days that is worth dying for. But dying against - there's enough iniquity in Europe to carry the most urbane or decadent into battle.

Speaking of cats, those bastards annoy me as well! I remember my Granny had a couple of cats years ago when I was a young 'un and they ran a bloody mile any time anyone went anywhere near them!

As Billy Connolly said, "I don't trust any pet that stays behind when you move home"

Sorry Flash, have to disagree, I'm 27(28 in exactly 3 weeks!) and I always say back in my day! And it was completely different to nowadays! Booze and smokes were cheaper, the music on the radio was a hell of a lot better, special effects in films were special effects and not cgi, £15million was big money for a player, most women had a modicum of decorum and weren't all orange fame hungry WAG wannabe's, chocolate didn't hurt my teeth, I could deal with hangovers without more beer and there was a lot less scum roaming the streets!

Fuckin hell, you young people have completely f**ked up everything! :x

You do not agree with my quest. I understand that, so much as it is possible to understand someone with whom I disagree so completely.

Youngsters respected their elders back in the day!

Nowadays you're all drug addled troublemakers harassing people on street corners!

And that's another one of my pet peeves! :P

People. Generally, and specifically, metaphorically, but also literally.

-People who mix up "its" and "it's" or "your" and "you're";
-Txtspk in general;
-People who drive Land Rovers in the city;
-Blithering idiot fanboys;
-Religious extremists, and by extension anyone who doesn't believe in evolution;
-People who play loud music when I'm trying to work/sleep/do pretty much anything;
-Americans who vote Republican.

I'm sure I have more.
RIP CVG. Future can get stuffed.

Forgot a big one. I hate that everyone, everywhere says "oh my god!" to absolutely everything nowadays. Or worse still "OMG!!!". That one should carry the death penalty.

I second txt speak as well.

*People who feel the need to use the world 'literally'. I get it, you aren't talking metaphorically.

*Text speak. Especially text speak that doesn't involve the shortening of a word. Such as people who feel the need to use the letter 'z' in place of an 's', making the word length the exact damn same.

*People who use the word 'brought' instead of 'bought'. I used to do this, but since it was pointed out to me, I always notice when others do it. And similarly, people who say 'would of' instead of 'would have', or mix up 'was' and 'were'. I usually correct people when they do that, and people tend to look bemused.

*Overuse of the word 'sexist'.

*Worship of celebrities.

*People who use the word 'feck'. Just say f**k! If you don't want to swear, there's plenty of words you can use that actually exist.
